La evidencia revela que hasta un 68% de la poblaci\u00f3n pedi\u00e1trica ha reportado dolor, ansiedad, miedo o fobia a las agujas<sup>2,3,4,5<\/sup>. Esta experiencia es identificada como la principal barrera para la vacunaci\u00f3n infantil<sup>2,4,5<\/sup>. Reconociendo la importancia de estos procedimientos para la salud f\u00edsica de esta poblaci\u00f3n, es esencial que los profesionales de enfermer\u00eda manejen eficazmente las respuestas f\u00edsicas y emocionales asociadas<sup>5,6,7,8<\/sup>. La educaci\u00f3n ofrecida al paciente en un lenguaje sencillo previo al procedimiento reduce significativamente el miedo y la falta de voluntad para vacunarse<sup>9<\/sup>. Sin embargo, es crucial combinar la educaci\u00f3n con intervenciones que integren la distracci\u00f3n, esto para alcanzar una reducci\u00f3n mayor del dolor y la angustia asociados a los procedimientos con agujas<sup>9,11<\/sup>. Seg\u00fan la literatura realizada, el uso de la distracci\u00f3n logra un cambio en la atenci\u00f3n del est\u00edmulo doloroso hacia est\u00edmulos atractivos o agradables<sup>10<\/sup>. Es importante no utilizar palabras despectivas como por ejemplo \u201cpuya\u201d, en lugar de aguja. No obstante, se debe informar al menor que el procedimiento puede ser molestoso.
